Re[3]: ATML Re[2]: [at-l] ATC Conference

The issue isn't whether to like DelDoc, iodine, chlorine, filters or
handwashing. The issue is to remember to learn to use gear well and
consistently before criticizing how appropriate or effective it is. No
water treatment claims 100 per cent effectiveness, at least none that
passes independent testing standards.

In your hands, iodine and other time delayed treatments are not
suitable. Others have learned to carry an extra bladder or bottle and
practice "cameling" when a water source is found - after allowing
adequate time for treatment. Others have found problems in dealing with
filters and purification devices due to mechanical and temperature
limitations. Others drink deep and often, wondering what all the fuss
is about by folks willing to bathe in streams but not willing to drink
the water.

Gee, this could be another HYOH essay.
