Aren't all days the same lenght?  

I'm not so sure what you did couldn't happen to anyone.  That's the first 
I've heard of anyone trying to cook a steak on a home-made alcohol stove.  
Most only need to boil water.

Atleast you didn't try to do this under your vestibule.  ; )
