OTOH, it might not "all" be SCAM.

I have suspect that some ISPs, may be recycle user names a tad too quickly.

Twice when I set-up a new account, I received a bunch of stuff intended for
someone who had had my "new" user name before.

In one case, the some of the messages were from a University where I had (by
pure coincidence) taken some graduate work.  They thought I was a graduate,
BS in another field, also named Dave, but with a totally different last
name, which also started with an H.  They had communicate with him at that
Email address for sometime and we had a curious exchange before I realized
that something was wrong.
