I really have to disagree with this subject being a "near troll". I think Ken asked a perfectly reasonable question. Is this equipment going to work for me on the trail based on experiences of members of the list. That's all he asked. He didn't ask "what do you think of electronics on the trail?"  He has explained that he is considerate of other hikers but that he needs to have a keyboard in order to record his journal entries because handwriting is NOT an option. If you can't hear without a hearing aid should you not hike because the hearing aid is a electronic device that allows you to have a more enriching experience? Give the guy a break!

What is this list coming to if you can't ask ANY questions? If you can't post a maildrop list, an opinion about any type of equipment or a new signature file without someone getting on your case about it? If you can't do these things, than why are we all here?
