One way thing I often do when hiking is take along some fresh lemonade for
the first quart. Two lemons, 1/2 cup sugar, and fill the rest of the quart
with water makes some nice lemonade, and you get electrolytes and Vit C in
the process. I don't know how much sense this would make on a thru-hike
since one obviously wouldn't want to carry sugar in mass qtys, but it's
great for overnights, and you can easily reduce the amount of sugar, cuz
1/2 makes it pretty darned sweet (as lemonade should be -- sweet and
sour), so perhaps it would make sense on a thru..more experienced folks
have some input on this one?
