[at-l] off topic bike touring question

it is like backpaking but on a bike bike biek camping i think it is called
.. i woudl not be moutnain biking jsut wilderness camping on a bike on old
service road and thing liek the C&O. we dont agree with riding on roads with
cars or on trail trails.. only hard pack surfaces not open to car traffic.
hehehe

any clues on how to attach gear to a bike? anyone? i am usign all my
backpackign gear all but my backpack and boots and leki and prolly some
other thign too ( hehehe i kept comign up with new items) you can seem to
use the backpack it makes riding very hard all that weigh t so very up high

me and friend are planing on building racks panniers and are open to
suggestions. we want to spend about ummm... 30 bucks. for each bike. to
get all teh parts including rack and pannier. we are both using blue light
special bikes. about 79 bucks each .. dont plan on doign to many hills jsut
want to try it out.. my firend has heard of my backpackign for a while and
was on a road trip with me up and down the coast. and now he has the
travelign bug too. I figure a sewign machien plywood and store bought racks
will get us to places and we might have some fun with duct tape on the way

so any suggestions any other bike packers out there?

these are our ideas
plywood backed panniers attches to store bought frames
complete hardwood and plywood frams attached to bike with normal back traped
to them
store bought frames with plywood shelves attached for storign stuff with
comrpession straps

anyone try these thing or know of reason to not try them ? any new idea or
modifications. i knwo there are alot of handy peopel out there..

sorry for the off topic thing but i figure backcountyr travel is open
game.... please respond offlist to keep weird completely none backpacking
info down unless other want to know too.
