I don't think it's PC to damage Poles. Besides, Poles were the first Europeans in the New World to break the English taboo about "going native" -- at least according to John Smith's account of the founding of Jamestown and Virginia. John Smith said he brought the Poles to the New World for their glass manufacturing and working skills and when he sent them to help build the Indian Chief a house, they never returned. Jamestown didn't have any women in those days but the Indians had plenty. Doubtlessly, these same Poles started compacting the Appalachian Trail before Leki or REI ever even thought of their trail aerators and Madison Avenue thought of calling them Poles. Who said I can't stay on topic.
