LOL!!  Not just the claws...I once had a pup that got bored when i wouldn't budge from the bag, 
rolled over, and started nibbling on the door seam!  And one that had to come with if i went
to pee or he'd try and dig his way out of the tent.  and one that whined all night for the first
half dozen trips.....makes you real popular in a campground...LOL
All that aside, I love hiking with my dogs.  It's like taking a very excited, non whining child.....
but it does increase your responsibility level.  If only they could talk <g> and tell
me when they were hurtin or tired.  <sigh>
