[at-l] Gear update
My pack this weekend was 28 pounds with 2 1/2 days of food. It would be=20
really easy to used to this weight but I am not sure I like my Ridgerest wel=
l=20
enough to continue using it. Last night, I actually ended up sleeping on the=
=20
ground beside the Ridgerest because it was softer without it. I guess if I=20
was a real lightweight weenie, I would say "hey, I must not need one at all"=
,=20
but I do - especially if I plan to stay in any shelters. My question=20
is....should I try a Z-rest? Do they feel significantly different? Or do I=20
go back to the thermarest.=20
This was also the first chance I have really had to field trial my nomad -=20
spent two nights in it and there was no condensation. The first night we=20
stayed in a very damp area and the air was pretty humid. I figured I would=20
wake up soaked so I did leave one vestible rolled up. and my bandana handy t=
o=20
sop of the deluge in the middle of the night. I woke up perfectly dry excep=
t=20
a barely moist spot on the foot of my bag where it had been pushing up=20
against the tent wall. I tried it again last night with both vestibules=20
staked out and still no condensation. So....the tent stays, the jury is stil=
l=20
out on the ridgerest.=20
