[at-l] Please make it stop...(was Warning from Beau)

As I was on my western trip last week, I chortled almost nightly as
the Weather Channel showed New England under yet another blob of
white or green. Well, I've been back for a couple of days now and
it's time for this nonsense to be over. I just grunted another 4" of
really wet snow off my driveway (750ft above sea level) this morning.
My crocus' are starting to come up and they don't like it much either.

The local cross country ski place (with no snow making) at about
2500-3000ft reports base depths around seven feet. Snowmobilers
cruising the ridges in and around the AT/LT report up to 230 inches
in places (that's almost 20 feet). Ski areas in N VT plan to be open
into June.

We could be in for serious runoff problems if we get a quick thaw or
a series of rainstorms. http://water.usgs.gov/dwc/ Mud season
promises to be very sticky. We potentially may have to cancel or
reschedule some trail work trips planned for late April. The deer
are coming down into the valleys apparently looking for food, driving
is treacherous near open fields in the early AM and PM

An early heads up for the EMS "Club Day", April 28th. 9 to 9. I'll
be in the Natic store at a table shilling for the Mass AT Committee.
Any Boston listers, feel free to stop by, I'll sign you up for a crew
<g>.

I'll also be buying some new boots that day, the toes were a bit
cramped with my new Smartwools during my western travels.

Done whining now,

Cosmo
