This sounds like a good story: is it something that you can share? I
realize that there are some military-type situations that you can't talk
about.
As far as knives go, and this probably would not apply to AT survival,
but in real wilderness where one might get down to the point of needing
to be able to make a spear, a knife with a few holes in the handle to
facilitate lashing onto a spear shaft would be the prefered type. Or
carry enough d-tape to do the same thing. Maybe Leki will come out with
an atlatl....
