yes - actually, I generally have only used them for sleeping - when it's too 
cold for just shorts in the sleeping bag, and also for the laundrymat when 
everything else is being washed. Almost all my hiking is with shorts only. 
Try to limit bush-wacking while wearing either the jacket or the pants....
