[at-l] loners

<<I'm wondering to what extent you think long distance hikers are loners?
Not the kind of loner that "goes postal" and shoots the place up, but the
Kind of loner that can just be alone ...in the woods....at dark...and enjoy
it.,
But likes others too....see what I'm asking?>>

His name escapes me right now, but there is a psychology professor who has
spent many years gathering data on thru-hikers. He usually does a
presentation at the Gathering. The number of introverts among thru-hikers
is much higher than in the general populations. And as Ready said, there
are many of us that come out of our shells when there are other hikers
(soul mates) to share are expiriences with. Ever try to get a bunch of
hikers to shut up???
