In keeping with Gus's (Patch) wishes for spreading his ashes, there will
be a celebration of his life taking place in Virginia at The Priest, a
mountain along the Appalachian Trail.
Along with the importance of Gus having hiked the length of the
Appalachian Trail, he was particularly pulled to this one spot. He
frequently visited the falls nearby and found this area to be a place of
peacefulness. In keeping with this, we would like to take the route up
Crabtree Falls while hiking to The Priest.
We hope everyone can come enjoy a day of stories remembering who he was to
each of us. The celebration will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2001,
Gus's birthday. We will meet at the Falls parking lot which is on Hwy 56
near the Tye River in Virginia. This is NOT where the AT crosses the Tye
River. Depending on your direction of travel, there are different routes
you can take. Please get in touch with us for more detailed directions and
a map of the area, if needed.

for more information. As we will be on the trail, and will have very
