Fwd: Re: [at-l] Trail Camera?

I must say I have to agree with Vic here. Last September I purchased a
Sony dsc f505 Cybershot with the Carl Zeiss lens. The rechargeable battery
does hold up quite well. I've purchased the largest memory card Sony has
(64Mb) and in the resolution I use, approx. 1800X1200 I can store about 55
or 60 images. The quality is unbelievable. I've taken the camera out in
all sorts of weather, snow, rain, fog, (no hot weather yet, it's Michigan
in winter) The only problem I've had is I find it necessary to keep the
battery warm in very cold weather else it quickly discharges. Probably not
a problem most of the time, but I live in Michigan and I've left it out in
my car on a couple of very cold (around 0°) nights and found it completely
discharged in the morning. As Vic says, my big PC recognizes the camera
as a removeable drive. Very handy for moving the images to my hard drive
for subsequent CD burning. The nice thing is when I take the camera along
on (car) trips, I take my laptop along and have (at least for the duration
of my trip) virtually unlimited storage. I believe that a system of
several memory cards rotated through the mail would work well for a long
distance hike. Would have to make certain and insure and certify though.
Definately not for tho$e on a budget though.

Pat Loomis Who should be on a budget but isn't.........yet
