[at-l] NOT trail related - computer geeks only read

Redead,

Reinstalling windows won't reformat the existing drive. So you're data will
generally be there. However, stuff that's in the registry or the Window's
system directories may not be available.

In general when dealing with computer drives, I try to install two drives
one for the system and the second for data. This way if the system fails, I
can reinstall the OS without overwriting the data. You can also partition
your drives to do the same.

To do this you need to make sure that you also save your data to the second
drive and modify you default settings to use that drive for application and
user data. Not impossible just time consuming.
