If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Actually, that was what happens to HTML formatted email when it gets
chewed up by a text mail server software. If you really want to know
the message, ask Jack to resend it as text and to hold the formating.
Alternatively, copy to a file and do the search and replace routine to
make them go away. Yet another alternative is to copy to a text file,
import to an HTML editor, and you should be able to read the message in
its full glory.
It happens rarely, but can really mess up a message.
