[at-l] If a tree falls in the forest...



Equally important to looking up at that trees around your tent site is
reporting suspect trees so that they get taken down or pruned. All shelter
maintainers are supposed to inspect them, but not all do a good enough job.
Of course a heavy wind can do in even the best of trees so consider the wind
direction and maybe retreat to the shelter in a real blow. Even the weakest
of shelters will fair better than a tent. If you have a choice sleep near
the wall.

Part of the reason for log books in the shelters is to report management
problems. We read them. So don't follow the instructions of rogue log books
asking you to mail them to some selfish, random person.
