Only if you hike some of the Smokies off the AT.  Leaving Fontana Dam, one
can easily hit Lakeshore to Eagle Creek and then head North to Spence Field.
The trail crosses the creek about 13 times so expect to get your feet wet.
However, it is a beautiful hike and there are several designated campsites
if you want to take a couple of days getting to Spence Field from Fontana.
The last couple of miles on Eagle Creek Trail to Spence Field is a good
workout as in "vertical" but the trail comes out right at the Spence Field
Shelter.....  Just a nice alternative if you have already hiked Fontana to
Spence Field on the AT...
