[at-l] The "g", "c" and "u" words

As another dinosaur, I remember well some of our early flame wars on at-l,
rec.backcountry and atml.

To me, you seemed to have mellowed quite well; as I hope I have to you.

You are quite right that much could be avoided by carefully define your
terms - what is meant by this word, phrase, etc.   However, even then we
sometimes come to the discussions with quite different values and
fundamental assumptions, etc.

In those cases, I suspect that the best we can strive for is a common
acceptance of our differences and of each other.  To me that is what is
great about this list -- that we can agree to disagree and still all be
welcome around the campfire.
