[at-l] Georgia RUCK

No, I'd probably have only repeated the last 4 words with a "?" after
it.

Try this on for size for the GA RUCK page.

***************
2001 brings RUCK further south for the beta verson of GA RUCK. Several
AT-L members despaired of missing the RUCK due to time and driving
times to Pennsylvania. Several have organized smaller "RUCK-lets". This
year will bring a closer and simpler affair to the hills of North
Georgia as an opportunity to define interests and planning for hikes
and other social gatherings nearer the southern terminus of the
Appalachian Trail.

This year, the GA RUCK will occur at the Goose Creek Lodge, between
Blairsville and Neels Gap. <insert phone numbers and addresses> Goose
Creek's many cabins offer beds, cots, sofas and floors for sleeping.
Kitchens are available and stocked with cooking gear, and many with
fireplaces or woodstoves. There are also options for camping or car/van
camping.

We will begin checking in Friday afternoon 1/27. We plan to leave
afternoon Sunday 1/29 in order to return to everyone's SuperBowl
parties in the Flatlands. If the weather closes the roads, we won't be
there.

Activities are planned including arrival, departure and figuring out
what to do in between. These probably include sharing stories,
photographs, addresses, lying, mild swearing, eating, sleeping and
comparing gear. Smoking and drinking are discouraged. Other activities
might include trips to Blood Mt., nearby gaps and road crossings of the
AT, shopping and a fond farewell to the Hansens - who are turning the
keys of Walasi-Yi to new management. There are no give aways, prizes,
contests or feats of skill and endurance.

Bill Thorneloe has threatened to bring pancake fixings and blueberries
from the Blueberry Patch for Saturday morning brunch. Others are
invited to bring skills and food. For instance, chili, salads, noodles
and kitchen versions of hiking fare are invited. Examples of alcohol
stoves, hiking gear, Tuckerizing and other activities are invited. For
more information, contact Bill at mailto:Thornel@attglobal.net or send
a question to the AT-L listserv.

Let me know what you think of that....
