[at-l] Need Some Info and Year-In-Review

>I've decided, though, that for me a good suspension system is worth any loss
>in weight of the pack.

This is a highly personalized decision. For me, it's just the reverse. I
always feel better with a lighter pack, as long as it's designed properly.

>30 lbs with a bad suspension system will feel a lot heavier than 30 lbs with a
>great suspension system.

Yes, but with all due respect, that's not a meaningful comparison. Adding
components to the suspension system costs weight, so the questions is, does
x pounds feel better than x pounds + y pounds of better suspension? For me,
the answer always is, the x pounds feels better, but that's just me...

Also, unless it's cold, isn't the pack always less than 30 pounds, except
the day after a resupply?

BTW, in another highly personalized situation, I always feel it's easier to
carry the boots and wear the tevas, instead of the other way around, so long
as terrain allows. I suppose that statement will generate some discussion...
