Is this the guy who spent 2 years walking around the world several years 
ago (like at least 5 years, maybe 10). If so I heard a radio interview (NPR 
type) with him after the book he wrote came out. He didn't bill himself as 
a hiker, just a walker. I believe he did all his walking on public 
thoroughfares and got a lot of trail magic (public thoroughfare magic?). So 
much that he spent only half the money he allowed for the trip. The 
interviewer asked at the end of the interview if he had advice for others 
who might be considering walking around the world. He had only one word 
"DON'T!"
