Well, that's fine if that's what someone means, but I'd venture so far as to
say that MOST people who use the term about thru-hikers aren't being so
complementary. It's the derogatory, critical "elitist" term that I've
encountered that I'm referring to then. I may be wrong, but your view of
"elistist" seems to be the minority. (And, you know, it may sound falsely
humble, but even after thru-hiking, I hardly feel like an expert. I made it,
and I feel really great inside about that and I sure learned a LOT, but
"expert"...I don't think so.)
