Shin splints are technically tendinitis of the calves, but often is used
to refer to numerous lower leg injuries. People often think they're
developing shin spints when in fact they're developing stress fractures.
The important thing is to treat your body right and to listen to it. Eat
right, stop when it hurts, and rest well. As was pointed out earlier, you
can work your muscles everyday if you work up to it, and get proper
nutrition.
