I agree fully re: bards and minstrels trading stories for a ride, food, or
shelter for centuries and the beauty of the fine art of yogi-ing
non-long-distant hikers.

However, yogi-ing other hikers is what I was objecting to.  I extended that
objection to include expecting trail magic and planning on others to cover
your essentials.
