Re: [at-l] Hennessy hammock?

I've never seen or used the Hennesy:
It claims:
>Weight: 2.25 pounds, or 1050 grams.
I like the looks of this weight claim
>Weight limit: 250 lbs
> Suspension system: 1800 lb. test polyester rope.
Am I missing something here?? why use 1800 lb polyester rope on fabric thats
rated to only 250 lbs .... and for those of us who have not weighed in at
180 lbs since college,
this limit looks awfully resticting, especially if you want to keep some
gear or water with you ...

>Hammock Dimensions: 9' x 4'
The inside dimensions are all that matters to me
>Hammock fabric: 210 D oxford nylon
oxford nylon hmmmmmmm don't know what that is ....
I have some "oxford" shirts

>Canopy dimensions: 10' x 6'
This is skimpy and with a windy rain you'll likely get wet ...
I use an 8x10 home-made tarp for one foot of additional protection on each
side

>Canopy fabric: 1.9 ounce polyurethane coated nylon or polyester ripstop

Mine is coated nylon ...

>Mesh: 1 ounce polyester no-see-um netting
I've not felt the need for netting ... yet ... and from experience I know
that if you sleep with a bare arm next to the netting the no seeums will
still eat you up through the net ... I do better using a small piece of
fabric draped oer exposed my head

>Stuff sack: Logo and set up instructions printed on >ripstop nylon bag

use the bag for food

>Set-up-time: 2 minutes

hmmmmmmmmm .... I guess well trained and practiced

>Packed size: 6" x 11"

mine fits in a side pocket on the pack ... I'm guessing more like 4 x 8

> Suggested retail price: $99.00 US

$13 wally world marina hammock
$15 wally world tarp
replace the polyester rope with webbing for $10 + or - can't remember the
cost per yard, but it's cheap
add two beeners at $1.50 each to make set up and take down faster ... plus
cord .... I rarely use stakes now, prefering to tie off the tarp on roots
and bushes or make my own stakes with all stickwiches there
