I went to the falls last august. So, I wouldn't be exploring the
rocks. just crossing that bridge on the way past. do you thing the
entire area might be impassable?

I don't have crampons (nor boots that accept them) I DO have snow
shoes. what do you think about carrying the extra 4#'s for the
shoes? I'd rather not!!! Someone recently suggested an alternative
to crampons (mini crampons, maybe?). But I deleted the msg in my
haste to clean up my thanksgiving backlog. Do you remember what it
was? or any other discussion on crampons?

I'm keeping a close eye on the weather channel and this web page :
http://www.knoxnews.com/weather/smokies.shtml for conditions.

go to http://www2.netdoor.com/~tjfort/ for the prequel to this trip
:)

I'm preparing for a very leisurely walk.

Mount LeConte
Icewater Springs
Pecks Corner
Tricorner Knob
Cosby Knob
out

If I can shave a day off that would be nice, but, I am not going to
count on that.

If I could spend my last night at the new Davenport Gap shelter that
would be cool, too.

also, I'm leaving my 3.5# tent behind, and, will be taking a 1.5# bivy
instead ... for emergencies &/or extra warmth, &/or mice!
