Lot's of good books listed, I have to second Larry Luxemburgs book... a
very good read, and tells about the rain and hard times too.
I also have to recommend "Long Distance Hiking: Lessons from the
Appalachian Trail" by Roland Mueser. He distilled information gathered from
600 or so thru-hiker questionaires... it's not a very long book, but for
the amount of information it's like drinking out of a firehose. It's not a
"How To" book, rather it presents all the information on how the 600 did
it, so it's a good way to double check your choices...
