Flagyl treats giardiasis.  It's quite effective and works very quickly.

A three day treatment saved my Nepal trip and allowed me to trek as I 
planned.  Of course, it was the food poisoning that weakened me to the point 
that I couldn't get over the 17,000+' pass.  Argh!
