Yep.
Reef Knots are not to be used for climbing, rigging, etc.; but the knots you
would use for those purposes would be overkill for shoe laces. You'd
probably need to cut the laces to get the shoes off -- esp. soft cotton
laces.
Which brings to mind -- soft flat laces stay tied better than the hard round
ones. OTOH they tend to stretch. Maybe there is a compromise in there
somewhere.
