Your tent is not much of a barrier to a mouse, or any other critter
smelling food in your shelter. You will learn to open all the pockets
of your pack and clothes to allow critters to sniff out the crumbs you
leave, or you will learn how to make patches with duct tape or needle
and thread. If you bring it, they will come for it.
