[at-l] Thanksgiving Dinner in Erwin & closed section of trail

While chatting w/ Miss Janet on the phone today, she mentioned that the Trail is closed right now between Hot Springs and Davenport Gap due to fires.  I have been pretty busy the past few weeks, so maybe I missed this if it's been posted here.  

But the purpose of the phone conversation was to get more information about the Thanksgiving for Thruhikers on the 16th of November in Erwin.  The Holiday Inn Express is sponsoring it, and efforts are underway to locate several southbounders who will be close to the area at the time, including Waterfall and Tuba Man.  People were also invited from area hiking clubs, hostels, the Unaka Mtn SAR folks, and of course the Eastman Tennessee Hiking and Canoeing Club, who maintain the Trail in this area.  If you know of any thru hikers who need transportation, let us know and we'll get them there and back, if they aren't too far away from Erwin.  And if you are anywhere close, you come on out too!!

(I'll be in Outer Banks NC for Thanksgiving the following weekend - anyone close to there is welcome to come hang out on the beach and shoot some pool Friday and Saturday :-) Email me privately for contact info)
