After hiking most of GA and a small section of NC, I have a new found
respect for all those who have hiked this section before me. It is indeed
a difficult area for someone just starting out and out of shape. I'm very
glad we changed our schedule and traveled slowly. The scenery was exciting
and we saw the foliage complete it's cycle. The weather was picture
perfect and the trail is in excellent condition. Along the way we had the
pleasure to meet a few of Georgia's Trail Maintainers and thanked them for
all their hard work. We had Trail Magic from some Very Special Trail
Angels (Kahley, POG, Dee & Coosa) along the way and that added to our
trail/town enjoyment tremendously. We saw a few SB'ers/FlipFlopers,
several section hikers and a host of day/weekend hikers in some sections.
I took photos and I'll have them posted soon I learn how to do it. I
didn't lose any weight but my waist size is smaller by 2-3". All in all
it was a great experience and I'm already planning my next section for
January. The plan is to hike from Delaware Water Gap to Ironmaster Mansion
and arrive in time for the PA Ruck January 26-28.
