Re: [at-l] Bad news from Baxter

Sad to hear the news from Baxter. Unfortunately rules and more rules
seemed to be the growing norm on the AT this year, and not just with public
officials. I think there's a message in this about how we can all get
painted with the same brush after one has a bad experience with a thru-hiker

Sure it's bigotry at its finest, but it's also reality. It happened to me
often from Georgia to Maine...paying the price for other's actions.

Seems to me like one of the best ways to counteract this kind of regulation
is not disregard, but perhaps encouraging some of our own to be a little
more thoughtful at times.

I guess Buzz's frustration came as no surprise to me. I encountered
similar frustration at The Place, Rusty's, Port Clinton...and the list goes
on....

But suffice it to say, 99% of the thru-hikers I met were good people having
the time of their lives.
