I'm not a teacher, but I do enjoy the trip reports posted by Art Cloutman on 
this list. I believe he teaches high school math, but he also heads up the 
high school's very active outing club. These outings include (among many 
other activities)hiking and backpacking and are open to all experience 
levels.  Thanks for all your time with these kids, Art.
