If you read the directions on rice bags, you don't have to boil the water
first. Just put in one part rice, two parts water, bring to a boil, lower
the temperature, put on a lid, and cook on low for 14 minutes. Turn off the
heat, stir, put the lid back on the pot and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Voila! That's not hard to translate into something that can be done on the
trail, perhaps, as OrangeBug said, with a cosy. Now mind you, Uncle Ben's
rice has to have the water boiled first (I think), On the other hand, it's
not real rice: it's converted. My understanding of that is that they grind
the rice to a powder, then remold it. Why?! Anyway, just thought I'd throw
in a housewife's two cents' worth. :^) Leslie
