 In defense of the whisperlite, it is a mechanical device and this is no
small point to over look. Proper operation AND regular maintenance is
require to safely operate any stove. I feel sure that almost any hiker
who is stove literate will operate the whisperlite correctly. However,
lubbing the seals and pump is a required task and failure to do so can be
just as hazardous as improper operation. Hopeful
