[at-l] Very brief summary of meeting today at Graymoor

There was a meeting today with NPS, the friars, Sen. Schumer, Rep. Kelly,
and me representing the local AT management committee. There was general
agreement with the big pictures of preserving AT values and the friars best
interest. Of course the devil is in the details. The first negotiating
session will be on Aug 23. Stay tuned for developments after that.

Warning: The area of the sewer line is high contentious with both sides
seeking conflicting goals. It is a very narrow corridor with little room to
accommodate both without some degradation of a purist's AT protection. It is
only a few hundred yards long and is already highly disturbed. Short of
buying everything in sight (including the sewage treatment plant and sewer
lines), it will never be pristine. The treatment plant has never been on the
table by either side as its demise would shut down the friary. Don't expect
miracles in this area.
