Good and bad, bad in that the Bear deterrent pepper sprays are all over 4oz.
The personal defense pepper sprays are not strong enought to use on bears.

If the minimum wage security guards, find anything on a person that should
not be in an airport or on an airchaft, they call the Airport Police.

Self-defense sprays okayed for checked bags. The FAA has changed regulations
regarding the transport of self-defense sprays by commercial airline
passengers. Passengers now may carry one can of pepper spray or mace in
checked bags, as long as it weighs four ounces or less, and contains no more
than 2 percent tear gas.

From the FAA web site:
Passengers who bring these sprays on board in their carry-on bags or on their
persons, or who do not follow the regulations for devices that may be packed
in their checked bags, face penalties of up to $25,000 and five years in
prison.

The decision to allow self-defense sprays in checked bags is in response to
numerous requests from passengers and flight crews for some means of
self-protection once they reach their destinations.
