however it is very one sided and incomplete. I have participated in most of
the negotiations for almost 15 years as the local AT supervisor. The
decision for eminent domain was ONLY because of the friars failure to
negotiate in good faith. We have had agreement in principle on many
occasions and then the friars fail to follow thru.

Please don't construe this as any reflection on the extremely helpful and
friendly friars who have hosted the AT hikers over the years. They are not
high enough in the heirarchy to be involved in land discussions.
