[at-l] Re: residential gas factoids

I worked up a couple of statistics yesterday to answer a question about residential natural gas consumption. One of the factoids was that a pilot-lit stove consumes about the same amount of thermal energy in a year as is contained in a barrel of gasoline. I received the following reply from one of my colleagues (a helluva guy), to which I hereby reply as below....
