[at-l] gear

I'm a trail novice (mostly short day hikes so far) and I'm gradually gearing
up for longer hikes (days and/or weeks). I'm in the market for a pack and
would like to spend less than $150 if I can.  I've seen a few packs in that
price range and wondered if anyone had any advice... I'd like to find
something that's decent for a day hike, but large enough for a week long
trek.

I know it's hard to shop for comfort on the internet...so I s'pose I'll just
have to go try the things on at a store...  Any suggestions would be
appreciated.
