A year ago today my Mom passed away.  Several of you on the list were around 
then.  This family - on the list - helped me thru that time, as well as many 
others.  Mom herself found friendship and support through this list, 
independent of my own friends here, but often interlapping, with special 
recognition to Chase and woodelf, the first two listers we met at Trail Days 
1998, a picture of which I will always treasure.  And when the end did come, 
she was surrounded by the letters, cards, posters, pictures and stories that 
were sent her in her last weeks.  From this list.  I'm not saying my family 
wasn't there - but her "AT" family, both from the list and from people we met 
in person at Trail Days and The Gathering that year - was there in a much 
appreciated way.  I thank especially those of you who remembered what today 
was for me and offered your comfort and suppost.

This particular post I believe was from May of '98, shortly after Trail Days. 
 The pictures were two that were taken on that first day hike of hers on the 
AT, by her sister.  The post is her post to the AT list about the day hike.  
I like it.  A tribute of sorts.
