                        How can I see this view in person?

                        Members of the Mount Washington Observatory are invited to tour the Observatory and are eligible for participation in a number of overnight programs on the summit including winter EduTrips and week-long volunteer opportunities throughout the year.  For more information on any of these programs, or to join the Observatory, just click on the menu items at left to explore our website.

                        Not Without Peril Author Nick Howe has investigated nineteen of the more than one hundred fatal (and near fatal) accidents on the Presidential Range. From the days of Frederick Strickland -- Mount Washington's first fatality, in 1849 -- to the present, Howe's studied prose gives us the opportunity to learn from the bad luck, and bad judgement, of others.
