What do you want to know? It is definitely a different hike. You start at
the most incredible place on the trail. Your first month is in the most
incredible state on the trail. (That .5 mile in WV is a close second,
though). Then, you hike. There are lots of differences. Not nearly as many
blazes. The people at the Family Restaurant in Kent, CT aren't as friendly
to southbounders. Weather is probably going to be colder toward the end.
(Not sure about that one, though. I started pretty late by most standards.)
What else? You are generally racing the weather, not trying to catch it.
Lots of stuff will be closed (parks, stores, restaurants, and other seasonal
facilities.)  And, gravity is stronger.
