[at-l] A Perfect Summer Day

My manager emailed me this morning and told me to take a few hours off today
if I wanted. (A reward for a "job well done" this weekend - payback happens
in mysterious ways) Needless to say, I didn't ask twice.
It is a gorgeous summer day here in Atlanta - in the mid 80's, comparitively
low humidity (about 50%) and a slight breeze. I went to a local state park
and hiked a few hours on one of their woodland trails. This park is on a lake
and everyone seems to stay at the beach or the tennis courts and no one
hikes. They missed a great day. The pines shielded me from the sun and the
breezes played overhead with the needles. The views were of deep blue water
scattered with an occasional bass boat, all outlined by the ubiquitous red
Georgia clay. I stopped for a quick wade in one of the coves and then
continued on my trail. Not a long hike, but definitely a wonderful break from
the typical workweek.

Sorry. this is not AT related. But, There use to be a few
individuals here that have hiked in the Sipsey Wilderness in NW
Alabama. I'm thinking of going up there this w/e. I really need some
input on mileage. My map has none. How hot do you think it will be?
the south is not a lot of fun when it's in the 90's. Also, the old
alabama trails web site at auburn is down. Any new links out there.
Thanks!
