I replied here and off line, the boy is 8 1/2, won't give me any feedback
other than "I dunno" when I ask him what he wants to eat. His mother wants
me to do as she has trained him. And I kid you not: I've seen her toss 3
breakfasts in the garbage before finding one he would agree to eat --
pancakes, egg, cereal and milk, and finally he decided to eat biscuits. I
won't do that on this or any backpacking trip. I fix the meal, I've made a
concession and fixed Ramen noodles with nothing else (but I've also got a
half serving of the 'real meal' if he's hungry) for his supper. We may stop
and get something that HE chooses, but hopefully it won't be his fav --
cheese curls. He was raised on them. I've seen him eat nothing else for
all three meals and seven or eight snacks in between, because his mother
didn't fix any meal for the family.
But enuf of that, I've tried to fix nutritious meals with protein and carbs
and fat (tho low on the fat), I think, for the 4 days. AND we're near
enough to the car that we can walk out if he doesn't like it. Plus, I'm
bringing an extra day's meal in case he Loves it.
What are Ants on a Log?
