My experience was quite different. I carried a pair of 2qt platypus bags
from Georgia to Maine without incident. I did treat them with reasonable
care, but I didn't baby them. About 1/2 way through I added one of the
drinking tubes. The first bite valve was very leaky, but the newer design
was much better.

After 2 years, my original platypus bags still serve me well. One developed
a leak when punchured, but was quickly healed with a platypatch.

I understand that Cascade Designs reformuated / redesigned the Platypus in
late 1997 to have a more durable make up.
