The nalgen bottles I have are very old and probably much heavier than
"modern" nalgen. I am surprised that soda bottles weigh an ounce and a
half, it's been a long time since I weighed one. I too use soda bottles
for alcohol fuel. I have 4, 6, and 20 oz bottles. A mark on top and a
strip of tape around the middle marks them as fuel bottles, it's a good
place to store a little tape. I usually squeeze the air out as the water
or fuel is used. This prevents that annoying sloshing sound. They've been
squeezed over half way flat with no damage.
